Long materials and equipment
Make a list of the longest pieces first. Confirm that they fit within the usable load area with the doors closed, and plan how the load will be positioned and secured.

Extra length.
For the bigger load.
An extra long wheelbase van is a larger panel-van option for long items and higher-volume loads. Compare its floor space with your load and check that the collection and delivery locations have enough access.
Bigger furniture collections
An XLWB may provide useful length for furniture, boxes and equipment. Check door openings and internal height as well as length; a box-bodied Luton may suit some furniture loads better.
Additional business capacity
For stock, tools or a temporary working vehicle, discuss the load and dates with the branch. Compare total weight carefully, especially when carrying dense goods rather than bulky lightweight items.

Plan the loading.
- Measure your longest items and check they fit with the doors closed.
- Allow for the vehicle’s length when planning parking, turning and loading.
- Confirm the available payload rather than assuming a larger van carries more weight.

Checked against the published vehicle tariffs and CMS on 5 November 2026. The seven-day total applies to seven consecutive days on an eligible hire. Any daily equivalent is the full seven-day total divided by seven; it is not the one-day rate. Weekend hires and extensions use the same standard vehicle rates. Longer periods and specialist agreements are quoted for your dates. These are standard category guide rates; confirm the vehicle, dates, optional extras and complete quote with your branch.

XLWB / extra large hire.
Your questions answered.
Practical answers for planning your hire from Sheerness.
Where can I collect a xlwb / extra large van in Sheerness?
Unit 3, Britannia Industrial Estate, Dorset Road, Sheerness, Kent, ME12 1DQ. Confirm the vehicle and handover times before travelling. View the branch and map.
What does XLWB mean?
XLWB means extra long wheelbase. It is a larger panel-van category. Exact load dimensions and the make and model vary, so check the linked vehicle page and confirm any essential requirement with the branch.
Is this a Sprinter-size van?
Sprinter-size is a common way of describing this type of large panel van. Regal’s examples include a Volkswagen Crafter XLWB or Ford Transit L4H3. A specific Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is not guaranteed.
Does an XLWB carry more weight than a smaller van?
Not necessarily. Payload depends on the actual vehicle, its equipment and the people travelling in it. Extra load volume does not guarantee a higher weight allowance.
Where can I find the current vehicle specifications and price?
Open the matching vehicle page for the category details and advertised hire options. The exact make, model, dimensions and available payload may vary. Confirm your dates, location and final quote before booking.
What is included with standard self-drive hire?
VAT, insurance, unlimited mileage and roadside assistance are included with standard eligible self-drive hire, subject to current terms. Optional extras and any specialist arrangements are confirmed before booking.
Can I hire for one day, a week or longer?
Ask about daily, weekly and longer-term hire for your dates. Agree the collection and return times; the booking confirmation sets out the rental period and charges.
Can I hire if I am travelling from Sittingbourne?
Yes. Arrange the hire with the Sheerness team and confirm collection from Dorset Road. Do not assume the temporarily closed Sittingbourne branch is the handover point.
