Loading tip: The usable space is not a perfect box. Wheel arches, doors, internal lining and the shape of your belongings reduce practical capacity. Never exceed the vehicle payload and secure every load correctly.

Real loads depend on the exact measurements and whether furniture dismantles. These examples help you shortlist a vehicle without pretending every home or item is the same.
An SWB is a practical medium van for a room move, trade equipment or a small furniture collection. A compact sofa, double mattress, washing machine and some boxes may fit in different combinations, but not necessarily all together.
An LWB offers a longer floor and considerably more volume than an SWB. It can take several furniture items, domestic appliances and a useful number of boxes, making it a strong option for larger room moves and lightly furnished flats.
An XLWB is one of the largest panel vans available on a standard car-licence weight class. Its long load floor suits large furniture, long materials, appliances, business stock and a high-volume load of boxes.
A Luton has a wide, tall and square load area that is easier to pack efficiently with household furniture and boxes. The Low Loader suits easier manual loading; the Tail Lift can help with suitable heavy or awkward goods.
Regal's representative 7.5-tonne box truck provides approximately 35 m³ of load volume — significantly more than a Luton. It can suit major removals, large commercial stock movements, furniture, event equipment and suitable palletised goods.
Choose an SWB when manoeuvrability matters and the load is limited to boxes, equipment or a few measured items. Choose an LWB when you have longer furniture, more appliances or need substantially more packing space. If the SWB looks close on paper, the LWB is usually the less stressful choice.
Choose an XLWB for long materials, a panel-van driving format or loads that benefit from extra floor length. Choose a Luton for a square, high-volume body that packs household furniture and boxes efficiently. Regal's example Luton has more cubic volume, while the XLWB example has a slightly longer load floor.
Choose a Luton for many household moves where a car-licence-weight vehicle is appropriate and easier road access matters. Consider the 7.5-tonne truck for a major move or commercial load that needs substantially more volume. The truck requires a Category C licence, and business use may require an operator's licence.

The right size depends on the property, amount of furniture, access and number of trips. An SWB can suit a small room move, an LWB or XLWB can suit many flat and smaller-home moves, and a Luton is often the practical choice for larger household loads. Use the contents — not bedrooms alone — as the deciding factor.
An LWB can suit a lightly furnished one-bedroom flat. Choose an XLWB or Luton if you have a sofa, large appliances, wardrobes or many boxes. A second trip may still be needed depending on the load and packing.
A Luton is usually the most practical starting point for a two-bedroom house because its square load area suits furniture and boxes. A fully furnished home may require more than one journey, so list and measure your largest items first.
Many compact two-seat sofas can fit, but large sofas may not. Check the sofa against the rear and side-door openings as well as the internal load area, and allow space to turn it through the opening. Remove feet where safe and permitted, then confirm essential measurements with the branch.
A UK king-size mattress is approximately 150 cm × 200 cm. It may fit diagonally or on its side in some vans, but an LWB, XLWB or Luton is normally safer. Do not sharply fold a sprung mattress, and check the exact vehicle before collection.
There is no reliable single number because moving boxes vary in size, strength and weight, and most loads also include furniture. A Luton carries a high volume of boxes, but safe stacking and the vehicle's payload matter as much as cubic capacity. Use the “Will It Fit?” tool for a cautious estimate.
A Luton usually offers a wider, squarer body and more usable volume for household furniture. An XLWB may offer more load-floor length and can be better for long materials. Regal's representative Low Loader is about 20.3 m³, compared with about 14.19 m³ for the XLWB example.
Many 3.5-tonne Lutons can be driven on a full UK category B car licence, subject to the specific vehicle's plated weight, your licence, driver eligibility and Regal Rental's approval. Always confirm the exact vehicle and eligibility before hire.
A Luton Low Loader is often easiest for multiple bulky furniture items because it combines a square load area with a low loading height. Choose a Luton Tail Lift where suitable heavy items need mechanical loading assistance.
Consider a 7.5-tonne box truck for a major house move, large commercial load, high-volume stock movement or suitable palletised goods that exceed the practical capacity of a Luton. Regal's example truck provides approximately 35 m³, compared with approximately 18.48–20.3 m³ for its example Lutons. Access, payload, licence entitlement and operating requirements must all be checked.
No — not on a standard Category B entitlement alone. Regal states that its 7.5-tonne box truck requires a Category C driving licence. Licence entitlements vary by individual circumstances, and business use may require a valid operator's licence, so Regal must check the driver and proposed use before hire.
