No security deposit
No security deposit is required for standard self-drive hire. The £10 booking fee per hire day is credited towards your hire and is non-refundable. If you cancel, you lose that booking fee. Date changes add £10 per hire day to the hire on the new dates. Check your confirmation for the full cancellation terms and any other applicable charges.
Driver eligibility
Drivers must be aged 25–75. For vehicles above 3.5 tonnes, the maximum age is 69.
You must have the correct licence entitlement and meet the other hire and insurance requirements.
Bring your documents
Bring your driving licence, DVLA check code, bank card and two proofs of address dated within the last three months, such as a bank statement or utility bill. A paper licence also requires a passport.

On this page, SWB and medium refer to Regal’s Short Wheel Base category. Wheelbase names vary between manufacturers, so check the dimensions of the actual vehicle you are offered.
Is the medium van automatic?
The linked standard Short Wheel Base vehicle page describes the standard category. Automatic and electric automatic medium vans are separate options. Confirm the correct transmission and category with the branch before booking.
Is a medium van big enough for a small move?
It depends on the full item list, dimensions and weight. It may suit a smaller collection or move, but there is no guaranteed number of rooms that fits one van. Compare a long wheelbase van if you need more room.
Do you have a Penrith depot?
No. We arrange delivery and collection at a suitable agreed address. Do not travel to an assumed Penrith depot. See delivery arrangements.
What should I confirm before delivery?
Provide your address, postcode, dates and driver details. Agree access, the handover point, service charges and the collection plan. Early and Sunday arrangements need separate confirmation.
