Choose around the load

A box body.
With a helping lift.

A Luton with a tail lift combines a box-shaped load area with powered lifting equipment. Discuss heavier or awkward items with the branch so the vehicle, lift and loading arrangements can be checked together.

01

Furniture and appliances

A tail lift may help move suitable items between ground level and the load floor. Tell the branch the item weight, dimensions and handling method so the right equipment can be confirmed.

02

Moving with heavier items

Plan the load before collection and arrange enough help. Ask for the operating guidance at handover and check the lift’s rated capacity, platform space and the vehicle’s available payload.

03

Deliveries and business moves

For office furniture, stock or equipment, check the loading area at the destination as well as the starting point. Any pallet or handling-equipment requirement must be discussed in advance.

Check the fit.
Plan the loading.

  • Confirm item weights, the lift’s rated limit and the vehicle payload separately.
  • Allow clear space behind the vehicle for the lift to operate.
  • Ask for the operating instructions and confirm suitable loading equipment at handover.

Vehicle category names are a starting point. The linked vehicle page provides the category details; the branch can confirm what is available for your booking.

Compare the alternatives

The right size.
The right loading option.

A tail lift can help with suitable loads when there is enough operating space. A low loader may be a better fit when a lower floor and carrying access suit the job. A tail lift does not increase the vehicle’s payload.

Checked against the published vehicle tariffs and CMS on 5 November 2026. The seven-day total applies to seven consecutive days on an eligible hire. Any daily equivalent is the full seven-day total divided by seven; it is not the one-day rate. Weekend hires and extensions use the same standard vehicle rates. Longer periods and specialist agreements are quoted for your dates. These are standard category guide rates; confirm the vehicle, dates, optional extras and complete quote with your branch.

Where can I collect a luton tail lift van in Chatham?

Unit 6A, Dockside Outlet Centre, Maritime Way, Chatham, Kent, ME4 3ED. Confirm the vehicle and handover times before travelling. View the branch and map.

How much weight can the tail lift raise?

Check the rated capacity and operating guidance for the actual lift supplied. Do not assume a capacity from the van category alone. The lift limit and the van’s remaining payload are different checks.

Can I use the van for a pallet delivery?

Discuss the pallet dimensions, total weight, handling equipment and destination access with the branch first. A tail lift alone does not guarantee that a particular pallet or loading method is suitable.

Is a tail lift always better for a house move?

Not always. The right choice depends on the items, loading help and space available behind the van. Compare a low loader if carrying access and a lower floor suit the move better.

Where can I find the current vehicle specifications and price?

Open the matching vehicle page for the category details and advertised hire options. The exact make, model, dimensions and available payload may vary. Confirm your dates, location and final quote before booking.

What is included with standard self-drive hire?

VAT, insurance, unlimited mileage and roadside assistance are included with standard eligible self-drive hire, subject to current terms. Optional extras and any specialist arrangements are confirmed before booking.

Can I hire for one day, a week or longer?

Ask about daily, weekly and longer-term hire for your dates. Agree the collection and return times; the booking confirmation sets out the rental period and charges.
